Hello there and welcome to our new website.
We’ve decided to give this online tool a complete face-lift, with updated and re-organised content. We’re excited to use this space to communicate with the public and our key stakeholders about what we’re working on, to bring in all ideas and provide information on what is happening in terms of Energy and Water affairs on a European and National level.
Starting with this month…February promises to be yet another busy month for the Energy and Water Agency, following January which saw important milestones being achieved vis-a-vis the Malta-Italy Gas Pipeline Project. During February we’ll be seeing important EU funded Projects for enhanced Water Management in Malta being Launched.
The first project, funded through the Cohesion Fund, amounting to EUR 21 Million, was launched a few days ago by Minister Joe Mizzi and Parliamentary Secretary Aaron Farrugia at GHAJN. The Project will span over 3 years and includes a nation-wide campaign, an improved hydrological monitoring framework for better protection of ground water and guide development of future strategies. The second project will be announced in a few days…watch out on this space for more information.
Work will continue on Malta Energy and Climate plan 2021-2030. In doing so we’ll be having more inter-Ministerial meetings this month required to put together the first draft of the Plan.
In terms of the Gas Pipeline Project, we will loose no time in utilising the EU funds recently attained and will be adjudicating Tenders for the required studies and kicking off studies with external consultants who have already been confirmed. The first kick-off meeting will be with RINA consulting.
This is a flavour of what is in store for February. Watch out for this space and our social media pages @MaltaEWA for updates on various fields which the Agency deals with on a day to day basis.
