For the first time ever, the Energy and Water Agency participated in Science in the City, Malta’s national science and arts festival which is a yearly event that happens in Valletta in September. Given the extraordinary circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic this year the event had to move online. Although original plans for participation had to change, the Energy Unit within the Agency still took it into their stride and found a means to communicate their message; via an interactive game made available for the part Explore the Arches and a live session which took place on Sunday 29th November between 12:00 and 12:30pm.

The interactive game ‘Mind your Energy!’ is our very own virtualised installation. The installation planned for the original physical event was turned into a game which allows players to interact and learn the different ways one can save energy through Light, Sound and Heat. This is now available to play online, so if you missed it during the festival, make sure you go and check it out and find out how to improve your energy savings along with the different schemes available.

The live session on Sunday 29th November consisted of a puppet show aiming to teach children how they can be more mindful with their energy through small changes in their behaviour followed by a live session which saw Ing. Lorna Taliana from the Energy Unit providing further explanations targeting a more mature audience as well as taking any questions being put forward.

Despite the circumstances resulting in the event being fully transferred to an online platform instead the usual hand-on approach, the Agency is very pleased of the outcome and that it was able to reach out to educate more people on energy and its conservation. EWA is excited for future collaboration to be able to showcase more important work being done.
