Sports Organisation Scheme

The Sports Organisations Scheme offered funding to sports clubs to replace their existing equipment with more energy-efficient solutions. Most projects involved the replacement of floodlighting and internal lighting, as well as the installation of heat pumps and the creation of better controls for pumping equipment.

The initiative brought more eco-friendly power to over 40 sports clubs and more than 60 projects in Malta, investing €1 million in football, boċċi clubs, athletics and aquatics clubs. The scheme not only ensured that each project reduced its energy use, but it also saved the clubs money that could be further invested into their sport.

The Government has since made further funds available for more sports clubs in Malta. As a result, clubs that applied for funding and were placed on a reserve list have been contacted and are now implementing their projects.
