RECIRCLE MED

Project Description

RECIRCLE MED project for sustainable coastal tourism is distinguished by two key characteristics as it combines two approaches that are often considered separately: the circular economy which is related to the reuse of resources and the blue economy which is related to the protection of coastal areas.

About

The main activities will be centred around the Four Pillars of the Regenerative Rural Resilience Framework (RRRF):

  • Capacity building for individuals, organizations, and local governments.
  • Collaborative governance and stakeholder engagement for adaptive planning.
  • Integration of circular, nature-inspired solutions for economic and ecological resilience.
  • Use of digital twins, decision support systems, and immersive technologies for monitoring and planning.

Objectives

The objective of this project is to introduce these approaches to smaller tourist destinations which they lack the capacity or funding to implement them. The transfer process is designed to ensure a seamless transition at every stage, facilitating the smooth integration of services. The adoption process is integral to the development of local plans, which are tailored to meet the specific requirements of the relevant area.
