Project Description

NURturing transformative capacities, Innovation in NBS and Harmonious resilience in rural areas

The NURISH project aims to foster climate resilience in rural areas across Europe by integrating nature-based solutions (NBS), digital innovation, and community-driven approaches. The project is structured around demonstration sites (4 Resilience Hubs, RHs) and reapplication sites (5 Resilience Nodes, RNs), focusing on knowledge exchange, capacity building, and the implementation of innovative solutions to address climate change challenges in rural communities.

About

The main activities will be centred around the Four Pillars of the Regenerative Rural Resilience Framework (RRRF):

  • Capacity building for individuals, organizations, and local governments.
  • Collaborative governance and stakeholder engagement for adaptive planning.
  • Integration of circular, nature-inspired solutions for economic and ecological resilience.
  • Use of digital twins, decision support systems, and immersive technologies for monitoring and planning.

Objectives

  • Over 56 rural communities and 63 reapplication communities engaged in developing and testing climate resilience solutions.
  • Training for local government officers, entrepreneurs, and community members, with a focus on independent climate risk assessment and resilience planning.
  • Deployment of digital platforms, decision support systems, and immersive simulations to enhance knowledge sharing and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support for new and existing nature-based enterprises, creation of green jobs, and demonstration of economic value through case studies.
  • Development of action plans, roadmaps, and policy briefs to facilitate replication and scaling of successful solutions across Europe.
