National Energy Conference
National Energy Conference 2023 Registration

The Energy and Water agency together with the Institute for Sustainable Energy will once again be organizing the National Energy Conference on 25 October 2023. The first edition, held last year, centred around three main themes – Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Battery Storage, and we had the pleasure to host some very notable speakers for each of the three sessions.

This year, we shall be shifting our focus towards industry and changing the format to enable more discussions. The Energy and Water Agency shall provide the national context for each session, whilst a panel of experts shall be invited to discuss each of the selected topics.  There will also be the opportunity for speakers to present best practices relevant to each topic.

The first session Financing decarbonisation of industry will be moderated by Perit David Xuereb and panelists will include representatives from the three major local banks. Bank of Valletta Chairperson Dr Gordon Cordina, Ms Saskia Payne-Clark from HSBC and Senior ESG Manager at APS Bank, Mr Matthew Swain, together with Ms Gabriella Borda who is a notable speaker on the subject of SDGs and Mr Enrico Biele from the Italian energy agency ENEA.

The second session Decarbonization solutions for industry will be moderated by Dr Marthese Portelli and panellists will include Inġ. Patrick Spiteri Staines from Corinthia Group, Inġ Paul Fenech from Crane Currency, Ms Nadia Grech from Malta Enterprise, the CEO of the Chamber of Commerce Mr Chris Vassallo Cesareo and Mr Nikolaos Kontinakis from the European Commission (Who will also be delivering a key-note speech). For this session we are expecting both showcasing of best practices together with fruitful discussions.

The third session will allow both the EWA and the UoM to present ongoing work in the field.

The conference will be held on the 25th of October at the db San Antonio Hotel & Spa, between 09:00 and 16:00.
