The Energy and Water Agency has once again partnered with the Chamber of Engineers in their annual Malta Engineering Excellence Awards to sponsor the  ‘Energy and Water Sustainability Award‘. This award is directed at private enterprises that have implemented projects to make a significant impact on their energy and/or water usage.

The 21st edition of the MEEAs will take place under the Distinguished Patronage of H.E. George Vella, President of Malta. The awards night will be held on Friday 2nd December at the De Paule Hall in San Anton Palace.

Apart from the Energy and Water Sustainability Award, another two awards will be handed out on  the night: ‘The Maurice Debono Lifetime Achievement Award’ a lifetime achievement awarded named after one of its founders, Maurice Debono, awarded to individuals who have been committed throughout their career to the advancement of Engineering and the profession in Malta, and the ‘Industrial Excellence Award’, directed towards organizations or companies or individual/s who have demonstrated excellence in their engineering work.

Nominations for the three awards are to be submitted by Monday 07th November 2022 by 12:00PM. More information can be found on the Chamber of Engineers website and applications for the Energy and Water Sustainability Award can be accessed here, together with the application guidelines.

An award for the Best UM Final Year Project (sponsored by Bank of Valletta) will also be presented on the night, for the respective streams of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering.

Last year’s ‘Energy and Water Sustainability Award’ winner was James Caterers Ltd. with their ‘Sustainability from Inception Project’. The runners-up for this award were Palumbo Shipyard Ltd with their ‘Power Factor Correction Project’ and Mizzi Estates Ltd. with their ‘Pangea Offices Project’.

The winner of this award will get a training sponsorship for its company of €4,000, while all the nominees will participate in a tree-planting ceremony to commemorate this edition of the Energy and Water Sustainability Award.
