Energy and Water Sustainability Award 2026
For the seventh consecutive year, the Energy & Water Agency has partnered with the Chamber of Engineers for the annual Malta Engineering Excellence Awards (MEEAs), sponsoring the Energy & Water Sustainability Award. The award recognises private enterprises that have implemented projects which have made a significant impact on their energy or water use.
The 25th edition of the MEEAs will be held under the Distinguished Patronage of H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta.
Applications for the 2026 Energy & Water Sustainability Award must be submitted by Wednesday, 21 October 2026 at 12:00 noon. More information is available on the Chamber of Engineers’ website. The application form can be accessed here, together with the application guidelines here.
In addition to the prize awarded to the winning enterprise, the award provides an excellent opportunity for businesses to showcase their success stories. EWA also produces short videos highlighting these initiatives, giving further prominence to their achievements on our website and social media. Furthermore, a tree-planting event, held in February/March, offers applicants the opportunity to network and meet the Minister responsible for the environment, creating an informal space to share challenges, achievements, and ideas.

For the 6th consecutive year, the Energy & Water Agency (EWA) has partnered with the Chamber of Engineers in their annual Malta Engineering Excellence Awards (MEEAs) to sponsor the Energy & Water Sustainability Award. This award recognises private enterprises that have implemented projects making a significant impact on their energy and/or water usage.
The 24th edition of the MEEAs will be held under the Distinguished Patronage of H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta. The Awards Night will take place on Thursday, 27th November 2025, at the Casino Maltese, Valletta.

For the 5th Consecutive year The Energy & Water Agency has partnered with the Chamber of Engineers in their annual Malta Engineering Excellence Awards (MEEAs) to sponsor ‘The Energy & Water Sustainability Award’. This award is directed at private enterprises that have implemented projects to make a significant impact on their energy and/or water usage.
The 23rd edition of the MEEAs was held under the Distinguished Patronage of H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta. The Awards night took place on Friday 29th November 2024 at Verdala Palace, Siġġiewi.

Last year’s ‘Energy & Water Sustainability Award’ winner was Crane Currency Malta with their ‘Semi-Autonomous PV Panels Cleaning System’. The runners-up for the award were Baxter Malta with their ‘Chiller Management System’, and ‘teva Malta (Actavis Ltd) with their ‘Decommission of Two Steam Boilers by Replacing Dehumidification Technology’.
Apart from The Energy & Water Sustainability Award, another four awards will be handed out on the night: ‘The Best Final Year Project 2024 for both the University of Malta & MCAST ’, ‘The Maurice Debono Lifetime Achievement Award’ named after one of its founders, Maurice Debono, awarded to individuals who have been committed throughout their career to the advancement of engineering and the profession in Malta, and ‘The Industrial Excellence Award’, directed towards organisations or companies or individual/s who have demonstrated excellence in their engineering work.

The 22nd edition of the MEEAs was held under the Distinguished Patronage of H.E. George Vella, President of Malta. The Awards night will be held on the Friday 24th November 2023 at the Malta Chamber of Commerce, The Exchange Buildings, Valletta.

Last year’s ‘Energy and Water Sustainability Award’ winner was Baxter Malta with their ‘Reduction in Air Changes & Cleanroom Switch-Off’ The runners-up for this award were ST Microeletronics with their ‘ Shifting to High Efficiency Reverse Osmosis System’ and Danish Bakery LTD. with their ‘Adiabatic Cooling System’

The 21st edition of the MEEAs was held under the Distinguished Patronage of H.E. George Vella, President of Malta. The awards night will be held on Friday 2nd December at the De Paule Hall in San Anton Palace.
Apart from the Energy and Water Sustainability Award, another two awards will be handed out on the night: ‘The Maurice Debono Lifetime Achievement Award’ a lifetime achievement awarded named after one of its founders, Maurice Debono, awarded to individuals who have been committed throughout their career to the advancement of Engineering and the profession in Malta, and the ‘Industrial Excellence Award’, directed towards organizations or companies or individual/s who have demonstrated excellence in their engineering work.

An award for the Best UM Final Year Project (sponsored by Bank of Valletta) was also be presented on the night, for the respective streams of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering.
Last year’s ‘Energy and Water Sustainability Award’ winner was James Caterers Ltd. with their ‘Sustainability from Inception Project’. The runners-up for this award were Palumbo Shipyard Ltd with their ‘Power Factor Correction Project’ and Mizzi Estates Ltd. with their ‘Pangea Offices Project’.
The winner of this award will get a training sponsorship for its company of €4,000, while all the nominees will participate in a tree-planting ceremony to commemorate this edition of the Energy and Water Sustainability Award.
