GeoERA TACTIC

Malta requires thorough assessments to plan the most effective strategies to adapt to the impact of climate change.

In particular, groundwater plays a vital role in the freshwater cycle and can either reduce or enhance the impact of extreme climate events (such as droughts and floods), depending on the properties of the subsurface prior to a climate event. Therefore, understanding the properties of the earth is essential in the assessment of potential climate change impact.

To best use these assessments to prepare for our changing climate, the Geological Survey Organisations in Europe will collaborate on the GeoERA TACTIC project.

The initiative involves developing robust research infrastructure that provides accurate data on a shared European Information Platform. TACTIC will promote the collaboration of ideas and information across European countries, which may be used directly or integrated into future climate support systems.
