The 6th edition of the Għajn Open Weekend 2025 has successfully come to a close, marking an event that fostered a strong sense of community in a family-friendly atmosphere.

This year, on the 13th and 14th of September, the Għajn Centre welcomed more than 700 attendees who took part in a variety of activities organised by the Energy and Water Agency (EWA), with the participation of several entities.

Children were greeted with a knight figure as a participation token, commemorating this year’s theme: The Fairly Hydrated Knight. Over the course of the two days, young visitors enjoyed a wide range of engaging activities, including indoor games such as sandboxes and virtual games, painting, crafts workshops, aqua narratives, and other interactive, educational experiences throughout the site.

Families also had the opportunity to tour the centre and learn practical sustainability tips focused on energy and water conservation, along with valuable insights into the centre’s history and sustainable water management. The tour offered visitors environmentally conscious practices and easy-to-follow advice that, while simple to adopt, can make a meaningful impact.

To appreciate the rich history of water conservation in the Maltese Islands, attendees stepped back in time through theatrical performances, encounters with the Centre’s mascots, Zoe and Drago, and the much-anticipated Historical Reenactment Exhibition by Show of Arms Malta.

Every year, the Għajn Open Weekend proves to be more than just an event, and this year was no exception. By combining fun, education, and cultural heritage, the weekend left a lasting impression on all who attended. With record participation and positive feedback, this year’s edition reaffirmed the Centre’s role as a place for environmental awareness and family engagement. The Energy and Water Agency looks forward to building on this success and welcoming even more visitors to similar future events.
